EC-2 Post of Novolipetsk Station fully transferred to digital control

Our company has concluded modernization efforts on EC-2 Post of Novolipetsk Station (Novolipetsk Steel Plant) in the end of April. Now MPC-I Computer-based interlocking system, featuring SOK Object controller system, controls train traffic on the station. The system complies with the most modern cyber-security requirements. 82 points and 124 lights signals are controlled by MPC-I.

Trackside signaling equipment (light signals and points) are controlled by main and backup sets of ARM DSP automated work stations. The equipment room also includes work stations of the maintenance personnel. These workstations are used to close off the tracks for technical inspection of train cars. EC-2 post of Novolipetsk station is highly involved into shunting operations, receives and departs a large number of trains to the network of the Russian Railways, mainly to Kazinka Station of South-Eastern Railway.

The track occupancy is controlled by ESSO-M-2 Axle counting system, featuring digital interface and in-built diagnostic system that significantly simplifies maintenance and troubleshooting by the operators. All diagnostic and technological data on system operation is displayed on PT Visual panels, as well as ARM ShN Signalling Engineer’s work station. Here, ESSO-M-2 system controls 181 counting post.

EC-2 post of Novolipetsk Station contains integration of our systems with the following stations: Skladskaya, Vkhodnaya, EC-1 Post Novolipetsk Station, Vostochnaya, Sukhoi Port and the shunting yard. Sukhoi Port station was fitted with Promelectronica’s systems back in 2024, whereas the shunting yard is fitted with DKT Wheel sensors, operating as a part of the shunting interlocking system.

Novolipetsk Steel Plant is a part of the international NLMK Group and it is the main production facility. Novolipetsk Steel boasts full metallurgical cycle and it is one of the largest steel producers of Russia. Our partnership with NLMK started more than fifteen years ago. Over the years, more than 10 stations and level-crossings have been fitted with Promelectronica’s systems. The higher management of Novolipetsk Steel pays special attention to workers’ safety and is open to introduction of new cutting-edge technologies and compliance to modern safety requirements on the facilities of the plant.
